No problem, Charlie, I gotcha!

Points rundown as I see it
Traits 72
Sword (really Staff) School 25
Hubris -10
Advantages 9
Languages 5
Skills 4
Knacks 36 (broken down as follows, 3pts each for Balance 4, Footwork 4, Swinging 1, and Swimming 1. Then your swordschool knacks (which all count as advanced knacks) at 3 each costs 6 per knack or 24 total).
For a grand total of 141, so only 11 over

Some things I noted, First, when using HP your Knacks/Traits are all limited to 3* so you can save 2HP by dropping both Footwork and Balance down to 3. Second, you didn't put any points into the Staff Skill (your staff skill up above actually contains the Peecke School knacks. Staff Knacks are Attack (Staff) and Parry (Staff) which you technically have 1 each in for having the school).

*The only exception to this is the Trait you get a bonus for (Avalonians have the bonus in Resolve so you could have a 4 as a starting character.)

Mark,

Quick question, why are Peecke schools all counted as advanced knacks? From your quick guide:

School Knacks All start at rank 1.
Beat (staff)
Feint (staff)
Corps-a-corps
Exploit Weakness (Peecke)

I thought Haymaker was its advanced knack but that's only for the d20.

Thanks

All swordsman school knacks are treated as advanced unless the school specifies otherwise. (Usually when the school included a non swordsman knack or something like that)

So, either Dave or Mark, In Peecke school a knack is beat. What's the difference between beat and attack staff???

Attack (staff) is a standard attack roll using your very long stick. No bonuses, standard rules plain old attack.

Beat (staff) requires you to hit the TN + raises equal to the target's brawn. (So a Brawn 3 target requires TN +15 to hit. But the attack cannot be Actively Defended.

(This is a great knack if you can combo it like you used to do with your musketeer to reduce the TN then pile on the attack. It is also handy for situations where a single hit is more important than damage amount)

No, Haymaker is an advanced knack in 7th Sea, it's just not part of the school. It's under the skill (Shidhe Book of Nightmares pg. 29).
