Ok, so youngest is now just about 4 weeks away from being fully inoculated. He was the reason for my holdout, so barring the usual barrage of unforeseen circumstances, I will be able to make it. My plan (such as it is) is to bring all the adventures and IF AND ONLY IF WE CAN ALL SCHEDULE TIMES! run playtests for all our remaining adventures (or at least as many as we can get through).

Other than that, no games unless Ken is planning something.

Oh and as a bonus, my oldest, David, has the time free and has been chomping at the bit to come to one of the big cons, so he (most likely) will also be coming...

She doesn't have the money saved up to go this year. But promises to go to GenCon next year (or maybe Origins, but she can only do one).

So called Hyatt this morning, no rooms available in September, only Oct 1,2, and 3. Booked the Sonesta (former Crowne Plaza) across the street from Tuesday through Sunday. Looks like I am going!!!

Am I reading the website correctly - you have to buy an individual badge for each day? I did not see a listing for an entire event badge.

I saw what you did Deb. But given what I know about Origins, the chance they stopped doing it is far less than the chance they flat out forgot to add it in. So I'm betting it's just a mistake. (fingers crossed)

Now that I've given it more thought, it may be intentional. If they need to control the number of people in attendance each day, it is much more difficult to manage if they are offering both daily and full convention badges. Just a bummer to manage from the attendee perspective....

So the FLGS has moved the auction from its usual time (first full weekend of October), to August (since they normally have two a year, and they haven't had one since early March of last year).

Which means.......I GET TO GO TO ORIGINS!!!!!!!!!! :D

Painless badge registration, took about a minute. Let's hope game preregistration goes as smoothly...

Nearly painless here. Thought I'd try throwing a monkey wrench in the works by buying my four badges and David's four badges AT THE SAME TIME! But it did not go awry (well other than my computer asking me 4 times for confirmation to use my credit card.)

So unless Delta shuts this whole thing down, David and I will be there!

No club code sent from origins yet. How long should I expect to wait?

So, I got an email today, advising that the "events catalog preview" goes live on Friday. Except that it's more of a "sneak peek", since it is not the final list (they are "still working with our partners to add more fun to the mix").

All of this leads me to believe that it may be slimmer pickings for events this year.......

Certainly. There will be a percentage of GMs not attending either due to pandemic concerns or just not being free in october.

Some of those GMs have kids in school and can't just yoink them out for a game con.

And some of us just want a year NOT being responsible for everyone else's fun for a change.

Fair enough - and honestly, I kind of expected it (and didn't mean for my post to sound as whiny as it did).

Honestly, I'm not so much going for the games as the people anyway.

I am going for the games.

I don't know which ones, but some GMs are about to get a handful.

And it wasn't whiny. It will always be disappointing when a con is not at full speed. I know we have regulars wishing we were doing new events this year. I would guess without looking that at least 1 event i really want to try out won't be there. But there will be fewer attendees to go with those fewer events (my home team has at least 6 skipping this year) so there will still be fair chances to get into stuff.

And all things considered, if that means fewer tables per room...bonus.

And don't get my early part of this wrong, seeing you all IS the best part but after the last 16 months... I need a game where i can just let loose and not worry about the collateral damage I could cause as a GM in our campaign.
