LOOK AT THE DATES ABOVE! GenCon just changed the Badge/Hotel Registration dates, so I fixed them above to reflect the new times. BE AWARE, Badge Pre-reg is now Friday 23rd and Hotel Pre-reg is Sunday 25th.

And now that you all have your Badges, it's time to gear up for Hotel Registration (and their new system). Tomorrow (Jan 25th) at Noon EST.

Fifteen minutes until the timer tells me how long I have to wait until I can register. Sounds a bit dorky to me. One of these days I'm going to have to break with tradition and get Mike to tell me his secret to hotel registration at GenCon...

Mark, to tell you the truth, it's not always easy. The secret is that the hotels all have a clientele that are not going to Gen Con, but are in Indianapolis for other reasons.

For years I got the government rate by saying that I was attending a presentation on unemployment insurance tax appeals (the Indiana Employment Security HQ is in Indy). Since I was the operations manager in Illinois for this, I could speak to it credibly. Hotel employees rarely even ask for a government ID, but I could always just show mine. The other person in my room was handling audio visuals, handouts, and otherwise a part of our presentation!

Lately, I've simply made a reservation for the next year when checking out at the Con just ending. Another way is to note which hotels are not a part of the Gen Con monopoly. A couple of years it was awkward, having to walk back to a hotel after 1:00 AM (of course I could have taken a cab); but compared to Chicago, Indy is pretty safe.

Mark? With a Con like yours, getting a room should be a piece of cake. :P

I wish. Dutifully waited the nearly 3 hours until my turn and surprise surprise no rooms left. But since I have Don coming with me, we just get one of the rooms reserved for the artists and voila we're right close.

Got Gen Con's 2015 listing of Premiere Event Groups. The number of groups has gone down significantly since the 300 they had last year (or was it the year before, I don't really remember). Now just 75 groups remain, and surprise, surprise, we're still playing with the big boys!

I may hype this a lot, but I really have to say, it's quite a big honor, especially when you consider a lot of those other groups are running 40+ games (which makes it quite a bit easier to get a couple of the goals) as opposed to our measly 13.

So thanks players, for making this possible.

I've started booking in a non-GenCon block hotel for even lower than the con rate. Sure I have to drive 15 minutes each way but it's worth it!

Yup that's looking like what I'm going to need to do too (assuming that my artist friend stops coming).

I'm going to try to make it in, but I don't have a lot of time to work with. I'm also looking to have my character at the same table as Seamus, but I don't know the player's name or schedule.

Time to start getting your schedules all ready. Events are now searchable in the system!

You'll have to be logged in @ http://www.gencon.com to search but all our events are in (as are a few other, less important, ones).

REMEMBER: Event Reg is May 17th @ Noon EST!

Since I rarely (if ever) play games at GenCon anymore, I completely forgot that Event Registration begins today at noon EST (about an hour from now). So I sure hope you've got your wish lists all ready to go. Good Luck everyone!
