And as an added question, are they taking away a day? 30th is a Thurs. Isn't it normally Wed-Sun?

To add to the new topic. Here are the important dates you'll need.

February 16 - Sponsor/Exhibitor Information Sent
(Doubtful this is relevant to us)
June 1 - Hotel Block Opens
(NOTE they aren't using OnPeak so we do it ourselves. Which brings up the question, why do we then need to wait? Unless its for the discount).
June 5 - Badge Sales Open
(No news on Groups, but I promise I will know before this what we should do)
June 8 - Call for Volunteers
(Just in case you want to give more of your time)
September 30 - October 3 - Origins Game Fair
(Yay! tempered with uncertainty)

Yes I am going. Yes it's Thursday this year, no explanation as to why, but I'll take it. Social distancing and masks will be required. Origin's website has the dates for hotels, registration, etc. Encouraging and at my semiannual doctors visit it looks like April for my vaccines.

Mind you, it'll also depend if Cbus isn't a smoking ruin in the next couple of weeks...

And the question if the site is no longer the backup emergency room for Columbus. That will take priority.

Chopping wednesday is a smart move this year. Saves them lease, shortens exposure for us and in september, saves a handful of parents the issue of cutting classes for the con.

Keep in mind, if we are not running events, that will make the club discount a non viable thing this year. The volunteer time to make that up is ridiculous.

In the Sunday Chicago Tribune was listed how long, at the current rate from the beginning, it would take to complete the distribution of the Vaccine to all persons, it gave 20 months for Illinois.

I won't be attending Origins if this is true.

And, as Covid-19 is a virus, it will mutate and there will be a new vaccines for 2022, 2023, 2024, etc.

I totally understand anybody opting to stay home this year. My own attendance will be in question until at least August. And only part of it is covid related.

But I will miss seeing you there, Mike.

On the plus side, it's good to hear from you Mike! We always worry when you go quiet.

Lots of health issues: No Covid, but blood clots on the lungs, bad knees, etc. Age hurts! :o

So, the guy from Moderna admits today that we will have to get 'boosters' every year for COVID-19.

We kinda knew that. The message just got buried in the refusal to talk about the virus after october.

No different than a flu shot at that point.

OK, so last year's flight credits were used for this years trip. So, step 1, I can get there. Step 2, vaccination. And step 3, book my hotel. Looking positive...

Posted this on FB, just increasing the signal.

Heya Everyone!
I with the changing dates for Origins/GenCon (and the fact that a couple of you PMed me to check) I thought I should let you know where HoA is (vis-a-vis) running events this year. Unfortunately, there will be no organized HoA presence at any of the cons this year. No new events (I know you've been very patient, and I promise to reward you once this is over) will be released (though I may (and I stress MAY) do something online). As for catching up on missing events, I am letting individual GMs make their own decisions about whether they want to run things or not, and I will let them make their own posts about the details (though to be clear I am encouraging them to just skip too, I don't want anyone to get sick/die.) I am sorry, I wish I had better news, but safety is always the priority.
Mark

We're tentatively planning to go, but that may change. We'll also both be vaccinated by the end of May.

So, I got my first shot yesterday afternoon, and my second is scheduled for April 20th. My room is already booked (gotta like hotel points), though it can be cancelled up to 48 hours in advance with no charge.

For me, I think it really hinges on who will be there - I'd rather not go two full years between seeing all of you!

With vaccine and no other variants of Covid I am going.

New wrinkle - the store is sending Floyd to GenCon this year (September 16th through the 19th), and currently, they have their fall auction scheduled for the first full weekend in October, which makes it difficult for me to be gone the weekend before (Floyd basically lives at the store the couple of weeks pre- and post-auction). So, it's not looking likely that I'll be able to make it to Origins. :(

Yeah that GenCon shift was a jerk move.

But now I am imagining a game store with a sufficient inventory and client base to hold an auction... never gonna find that in these parts.

The auction is pretty cool - they actually have folks come in from around the country for it.

Thursday night is all Trade and Collectible items, Friday night is HIstorical/European/Family games, Saturday is RPG, and Sunday is Miniatures. It's usually a pretty impressive turnout (though I'm not sure how that will hold up this year).

They usually do one in the spring, and one in the fall. 2020 Spring Auction got in just before the quarantine (I believe the quarantine started about 10 days after the end of the auction). So this fall will be the first one since COVID.
