Origins 2022

Postby CaitlinCallahan » Wed Jan 05, 2022 1:00 am

You'd think I'd have learned by now.....

The Origins website states that "Upcoming shows will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. See you there!", with buttons underneath labeled with the dates for the 2022 and 2023 shows. Sucker that I am, I clicked on the button labeled "June 8-12, 2022", expecting to be taken to a page with information on the 2022 con (I was hoping for dates when badges might be on sale). Instead, I was taken to the badge registration page for the 2021 con.

::sighs::: Fingers crossed that the 2022 show is actually going to happen this year.

Well, the GenCon event reg is in just a few days (Sunday to be specific) and I have all 3 shots (probably 4 by the time GC rolls around, AND have a room registered already...)

Hey, quick Origins "fun fact".

Back in 1977, Origins called their gaming awards: The "Charlie" Awards.

I'm not saying they knew who was the man back then but...

They're going with a new registration system this year, according to the email I just got.

If the year ends in a number, Origins changes their system.

Should I feel bad that I didn't get an email?

(And the website still links the 2022 dates to the 2021 registration page....)

Not that I'm anxious/borderline obsessed about attending this year or anything....

Tgis is why I never look at the registration for events. Too frustrating.

I didn't get an e-mail either. Maybe 'cause I didn't go last year?

Pretty sure we are on a watch list, however. Probably titled "known to associate with Thawk" or "Megaparanoia adjacent".

According to what I've seen on Facebook, it looks like event submission is supposed to start on January 15th, but there was no information on badge registration. It also sounds like they are in the process of updating the website.

On a side note, I went ahead and booked my hotel - gotta love those hotel program points!

So, the website appears to have been updated, with event submission starting January 15th. It also indicates that event registration will open on May 21st. There is no mention whatsoever of badge registration, and the "Attend/Get a Badge" link still takes you to the registration page from last September.

And I still have't received any response to the email I sent last Friday, asking for information on badge registration....

Actually got an email from Origins advising the event submission was live, and when I clicked on the Tabletop Events link, it looks like badge registration will be live on February 5th. :D

You want HoA Events? I knew you would! Here's our schedule for this year!

Wed (8th):
1-5 HoA: Flashback - Eps 1-3
1-5 HoA: Episode 15 – Black Sheep
7-11 HoA: Episode 17 – One More Favor
7-11 HoA: Episode 19 – Rising Tensions

Thurs (9th):
9-1 HoA: Episode 18 – Finessing the Queen
1-5 HoA: Episode 20 – The Keystone
1-5 HoA: Flashback - Eps 4-6

Fri (10th):
9-1 HoA: Episode 17 – One More Favor
1-5 HoA: Episode 18 – Finessing the Queen
1-5 HoA: Episode 19 – Rising Tensions
1-5 HoA: Flashback 7-9
7-11 HoA: Episode 19 – Rising Tensions
7-11 HoA: Episode 20 – The Keystone

Sat (10th):
9-1 HoA: Episode 20 – The Keystone
9-1 HoA: Flashback 10-12
1-5 HoA: Personal Agendas – 2 Tables
7-11 HoA: Personal Agendas – 2 Tables

Sun (12st):
10-2 HoA: DOMINGO GIGANTE! - 2 Tables

Now I set these all up as 6 person tables (well 6 players and 1 GM) to cut down the number of folks in close proximity. BUT we'll probably have an extra GM or so around if we run over...

From the Origins Facebook site:

Origins will be requiring proof of vaccination and masks for the convention. The full policy will be on our website before badge registration opens February 5.

Badge purchased. Apparently I had credit on my account, so that was nice. Whole process took less than five minutes.

When did the credit show up? I should have a credit (for the refund from my 2021 badge purchases), but I did not see it on TTE. I sent an email to GAMA, but am not holding my breath for a response.

Badge purchased, with the credit from last year. Though I may be developing a bit of a complex - the response I got this morning was that an email went out Saturday morning to anyone with a credit that included the code to get the credit. I never got the email.....

All's well that ends well, I guess.

We will, sent in the stuff a couple of weeks ago, BUT as usual if you purchase the badge now (you know so you can buy events) you will not get a refund...

Oh so fun story. I am bringing Don along with me this year (our artist). He asked me about rooms and stuff and it occurred to me that I had not gotten a room this year. Went to get them via Origins' website, and guess what? They're still set up for LAST YEAR!!! So, remember that if you are looking for a room and remember to get a room if you haven't already.
