Background:

Being the youngest of her siblings (and an unmarried daughter at that), there wasn't much left for young Elvira in the way of inheritance.  Especially since she and her father roughly disagreed over a potential suitor.

"Gaspar is a fine-looking young man from a well-respected family.  Not to mention, you know how much he still adores you,"  her father would say to her.

"That may be true, but he's a fool and a liar."

The young woman firmly believed that, once given, your word should never be broken...no matter the consequences.  It was a thing of honor that the rest of the family did not seem to rely so heavily on as Elvira.  Too many people whom she respected and admired did not hold to the promises which they gave when she was a child.  The first:  "I'll always be there to take care of you.  You have my word."

After she had gotten sick, Elvira's mother said those words to her every night before she went to bed.  They were not true, however.  She was only six years old when her most respected idol passed.

As for the liar:  while they were younger, Gaspar had promised her that as soon as they finished their schooling at the university, he would marry her.  He promised that she was, and always would be, his only love.

That was only two weeks before a close friend of hers broke the news.  Gaspar had recited those very same words to another girl by the name of Vana.

Vana was a nice girl, and Elvira had nothing against her.  After all, how could the poor girl have known that her new lover had made the same promise to another girl already.

Gaspar, on the other hand, was as rotten inside as a Vodacce Courtesan as far as Elvira was concerned, and he could go spout his empty vows in someone else's face.  Unfortunately, the fool wised up just enough to recognize his mistake and vowed that he would never rest until he had his true love as his wife.  Too bad Elvira wanted nothing to do with the wretch.

So, because of the disagreement with her father, and in an attempt to get as far away from Gaspar as possible, Elvira decided to become a Knight and joined the secret society of the Rose and Cross.

It took some work to be noticed, but eventually, she received a letter from a Knight by the name of Ximen asking her to join the society.

Eighteen months later he became her domine. Ximen was a good teacher.  He taught her everything he knew:  from the effective use of words, to the effective use of a blade.

Finally, after three humbling years of servitude and training, Dona Elvira Acedo de Orozco took her vows once again and became a Wandering Knight.

In her mind, this was perfect:  she was now a part of a society where "a man is only as good as his word".  After all, what could be nobler than being a Knight?

I'm sure that I messed up somewhere with my numbers (just because I can do calculus doesn't mean I never make arithmetic mistakes).....

Well since I am using my phone all your knacks and traits are at 0 (it shows me empty boxes). But I will go over it later if mark doesn't. I would suggest miracle worker might be an alternative to faith that at least does something every session. But I like the character. Make sure you say hello to the salamancas for me.

What's Miracle Worker?

Castille book page 103. You buy up to 3 dice at a cost of 5HP each. The GM controls when and how they help. If unused in the session, you get an extra 2 XP. A die can heal two dramatic wounds, turn into 3 drama die that apply to a single roll, cause a villian to miss and discard his action dice, or become 2 drama dice when you have spent all you had.

1 - Miracle worker: Get 1-3 Miracle dice (cost 5hp per) Beginning of the session you turn them over to me. I decide whether or not to use them because a miracle has happened. All that I don't use become +2xp per session.

2 - Doña Elvira (there's your tilda). I added up the points and it seems to break out like this.
Traits 56
Arcana -10
Background(s) 4
Advantages 30
Languages 7
School 25 +24 for the extra knacks (they are advanced knacks during character creation)
Skills 17

Total 153.

So if I've done this correctly, you have the base R&C character (which is 115 points -10 for Hubris) + 30HP for personalization, should be a grand total of 135. So you're 18HP over. If you drop all your school knacks back to 2 each there's 12 already.

Wait, what counts as advanced knacks? The swordsman knacks? Since when, I thought they came with the school. Plus, advanced knacks, once you pay the three to buy them, are the same as regular knacks anyways: 1 point to raise them.

Also, did you take into account the overlapping knacks? I have a lot of those and they stack during character creation.

And OOOHHH!!! about the miracle worker. We use those dice in CV!

Well you get the first pip in all your Swordsman school knacks but for all advanced knacks, its 3HP per pip not 3 to get it then 1 each (In your swordschool, you have 3 in each which is 2 extra x 4 knacks x 3HP = 24HP).

It costs 2 Hero Points to purchase a Skill. When you do, you acquire all of its Basic Knacks at Rank 1 (unless otherwise stated). Additional Ranks in Basic Knacks (or the first Rank in a Basic Knack that you didn’t receive for free) cost 1 Hero Point each. Ranks in Advanced Knacks (including the first) cost 3 Hero Points each.

Players Guide p. 112 emphasis mine

EDIT: Yup the overlaps I saw were the following:
Climbing x2 from Athlete and Guide
Dancing x2 from Courtier and Performer
Oratory x2 from Courtier and Performer
Etiquette x2 from Courtier and Servant
Fashion x2 from Courtier and Servant

But I do see one mistake I made. You only have Parry 2, so it should be shave 17HP not 18.

Oh! They get treated as regular knacks AFTER HC, correct?

all knacks are the same using XP. It's only HP that makes any difference (and Castillian Education can fix the Civil Advanced Knacks)

Yaay! I took a break from Calculus homework to write up a background and I'm actually quite proud of it...although it is 5am and I haven't slept yet so my opinion might be a little...off. BACK TO HOMEWORK!

-is finally regretting waiting until the night before her final exam to do all of her homework-

Alright, I like the background for your hero. The next step (AFTER doing all your homework and getting enough rest) is to describe in a couple of paragraphs, the setting, major events and people involved with your two Backgrounds.

BUT DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST!!!

Yeah, I'm working on it. I just have to finish up this powerpoint and do as much Calculus homework as I possibly can before 3 when I'm doing a 15 minute presentation on Tony Scott and also being the time keeper for the rest of my group (to make sure no one goes over 15 minutes) and then spend an hour finishing up Calculus and then take a 4-5 hour calculus test and then...I'M DONE!!!! All the constant action is going to help me stay awake. :D

BTW, I've been waiting since 4 this morning for you to read that. Literally. And you've gotten on like three times and gone to read this section of the board but then didn't respond...it was driving me nuts.

OKAY!!!! -stumbles off to do homework-
(I'm actually quite proud of myself...I feel accomplished.)

The problem was you edited the first post. I just come on and see if there are any new posts. When I don't see any, I move on. I just happened to look through it because I clicked the wrong link.

Shhhh... You will wake her. I think if she didn't edit we would be on page 9 of her character thread. I'm waiting to see when she discovers the PM function. Then you will be swamped.

Wake me? I still haven't slept in 36 hours. And I know this board backwards and forwards anyway. Did you know there is a secret stalker page that lists what people are doing whole on the forum which I have been frequenting pretty much nonstop since I joined except for while I was just taking my last two finals today. I just haven't PMed yet because it's easier to be obnoxious to a lot of people rather than just one...plus I've been blowing up Mark's Facebook wall the past few days.

I am soo tempted to mess with you and turn that off. That'll force you to go get some sleep. I see you're offline now, so that's good. When you get back on see if you can find the secret forums heh heh heh.

I slept 12 hours straight!!!!!

See, I've been an admin in multiple forums of this type so even if there are hidden forums (which I doubt) they would just be admin only. :P

Okay, so I'm reading the KRC book an I updated the background to be a little more accurate. She's not a Poor Knight but a Wandering Knight. I'm pretty sure that I covered both backgrounds (Code of Honor and Hunted) pretty well but please let me know if I need to add more. :)

For what it's worth, I always hated the requirement lists for the R&C. It's obvious the players will default to playing wandering knights but nearly impossible to build one using just 100 hp.
