Looking for a digger's coat...

Right, so it's our 10th year anniversary next year and my Mike and I have been talking about getting photos done of us dressed up as our various characters.

Which means, I get to be Lady Grace for a change. I've got her kilt, we have access to a big honkin' sword, I even have a pin that'll be perfect to represent her membership to the Explorers' Society.

What I'd really like to get my hands on is a digger's coat to complete the ensemble. Ideally, I don't want to wait until Origins to pick one up and I'd like to do some price comparisons if at all possible.

Any leads?

(For the record, Mike's dressing up as Ulf)

That would be wicked cool, and I'd give you the name of the person I always go to to sew stuff for me *cough* Laura *cough* but I'm betting you'd like to do this in some kind of leather? That's what's popping up in my mind. Anyway you could ask Laura about it (assuming she doesn't come running into this thread to explain it all without my introduction).

While leather would be ideal, I am open to other materials.

Ok, I had to go google to see what I could find.

I think this type of coat may work if you can find it or order it on line.

Its called an Anoraks, and it seems to have lots of pockets, but you'll need to browse through the link to find one to your liking.

The clothing pictured is not numbered, but if you (hopefully) see the same pictures I saw on that link, counting left to right, on each row, the numbers 20, 37, and 82 look pretty decent, and might pass for the era you need it too.

The main website link is this one:

Ah, Mark and I were talking about that tonight when I went over his house.

I wasn't exactly sure of what you were looking for, and when you google Diggers coat, you get some really weird things that pop up. So he had mentioned that something with lots of pockets, earlier, and that was what I found. From what you just posted, that looks more like a Captains coat to me, and yes, I like that better for a look, but you need more pockets, lol.

http://www.authenticwardrobe.com/Pirate/pirate.html Bill does nice work but he is a bit expensive

http://redfalconproducts.com/product/pirate-coat/ also a guy who's work I would vouch for

https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheGriffinWorks?ref=shopsection_shophome_leftnav He has nothing on the page but he can make it and he is very good.

Just a couple off the top of my head. Prowl the renn faire sites for other links to vendors. The Boss wench does good work too.
