I agree- but every time I pitch having my character make a heel turn and be the Shadow King, it gets shot down

Well, as was determined at the bar on Saturday, John Wick is the Vince McMahon of RPG design. A meme he wanted shut down immediately.

His business card reads "memetic assassin" so that should be easy.

And to quote Jared Sorenson, "John is the rock star of game designers".

As for pro rasslin... I like to think I push my plot standards a little higher than that. I get what he is going for with the comparison and he isn't wrong.

I dunno, but I've certaintly had undead wizards and leprechauns in some of my games, so I'm pretty close.

Hey Jack! Could you bring Los Vagos, Ussura, Sophia's Daughters and Ritasscure (?) to Gencon? My friend Brian wants to buy them.

Since I thought there might be some interest, I updated the list. The numbers in the first post are accurate as of today.

I would like the Player's guide, compendium, Eisen, and Vodacce.

Any other books you recommend for starting out? I know my friend got some reputation with the invisible college. Is that book needed for that right now or can it wait a bit?

Unless you're going to run something at home, you won't need IC right away (it will also add in some secrets that you probably don't know right now*). If you had a character who'd already joined a secret society, you might want to pick that book up. But really what you've got should be fine.

The only other books I might put on your radar are Pirate Nations and Avalon. When HoA concludes we will be starting up our second campaign The Rogues of Canguine which will rely heavily on both of those books (but that's still at least 3 years away)

I should also say, the Compendium was really just for folks who got the early 1st Ed books (they made some changes before they did a second printing and these are just the changes) and I highly doubt any of the PHB/GMGs that I have are the early editions. I really just got them for the obsessive completionists (like me). So if you want to skip that, it won't affect you.

*all the Secret Societies and Nations books come complete with secrets in the GMs section. So it might spoil things some if you read all the way through them
