The list is long today...

Creme de Menthe Day (you will need the booze to handle the rest buy this one does not pair well with the other food events)

Online Learning Day (if this post is the only thing you learn online today, you should expand your horizons to include more unsubstantiated information)

Greenpeace Day (commemorating the end of the great crayon war of 1977 when green and red stopped clashing)

Felt Hat Day (felt hats were cool before hipsters found them)

Wife Appreciation Day (guess I will need to go appreciate somebody else's wife today)

Cheese Toast Day (raise a glass to cheese! What? Oh, the cheese is ON toast...well that is...an open faced grilled cheese)

Linguine Day (flat noodles, bleh)

Tackle Kids Cancer Day )seems cruel to tackle a kid with cancer but whatever)

And...

Double Cheeseburger Day (the good kind where they also double the cheese)

Cinnamon Raisin Bread Day (which is surprisingly resilient to mold...not that anyone left enough around long enough for that to happen)

Clean Up Day (we probably need a clean up week if we are honest)

Step-Family Day (evil stepmothers always make you do the cleaning up)

Working Parents Day (I really thought this was the standard. Are there a lot of families where the kids earn the wages?)

Mayflower Day (a boat full of people who left a country where nobody liked them arrives in a new land too late to plant any crops and need to mooch off the locals... miracle it worked out)

And...

Play-Doh Day (woo! Play-Doh!)

IT Professionals Day (this is at least their 3rd day, I think someone hacked my calendar)

Apple Dumpling Day (get the gang together and have dessert. Save one for my dad)

And...

Monte Cristo Day (make it count)

POW/MIA Recognition Day (if you can recognize a MIA, are they really missing?)

String Cheese Day (a staple for grade school kids)

Well, we should have a separate day.

On to today's festivities:

Gymnastics Day (people flip for this holiday... really)

Boys and Girls Club Day for Kids (maybe they can do gymnastics.)

New York Day (the State as a whole. Great place north of Poughkeepsie)

Pecan Cookie Day (not available in New York)

Responsible Dog Ownership Day (this means you picked up after fido)

And...

Puppy Mill Awareness Day (puppy flour for your pecan cookies)

Dear Diary Day (Dear Diary, today I listed some holidays)

Ice Cream Cone Day (just the cone, pay no special attention to the ice cream)

White Chocolate Day (it's not even really chocolate)

American Business Women's Day (on a Sunday so they can't call off...)

Elephant Appreciation Day (they are big, they can move a car... let's call it wary respect day)

Legwear Day (I would tell a sock joke but I don't know any)

Car Free Day (free car? Wait...that sounds like "take this hunk of metal that won't start day" to me)

BRAVE Day (it must be in caps to sound bolder)

Centenarians Day (oddly, they were all around for the first celebration as well)

And...

Hobbit Day (once upon a time, there was a meddling short man what lived in a hole...)

The Autumn Equinox (Equinox is a terrible horror film BTW)

Snack Sticks Day (a vague and inclusive event)

Singles Day (go be alone)

Celebrate Bisexuality Day (because that doubles the people that will turn you down)

Teal Talk Day (...I got nothing)

Restless Legs Awareness Day (twitchy single bisexuals wearing ng teal...this is a major event)

Great American Pot Pie Day (I will concede they are great but I question the "American" aspect of a pot pie)

And...

Checkers/Dogs in Politics Day (wait, what? I know what a checker and a dog are, what links them?)

And looking it up... A real dumb reason to dual name a day. And kind of a dumb event too.

Damn you, Nixon!

Cherries Jubilee Day (cherries + booze = celebration)

Voter Registration Day (so you can feel you help elect whoever the media picks out)

Punctuation Day (I am giving them the day off)

Innergize Day (sounds like a made up corporate speak day)

And

Schwenkfelder Thanksgiving (no idea who they are or why there holiday is early unless it is to beat the world to pumpkin spice)

Women's Health and Fitness Day (guys, continue to do what you do)

Tune Up Day (relayed to the above?)

Lobster Day (a reward for fitness)

Research Administrator Day (let's congratulate the person that doesn't actually do the research)

One-hit Wonder Day (A-ha or Dexy's Midnight Runners...debate amongst yourselves)

Math Storytelling Day (it always involves apples and trains)

And...

Comic Book Day (not free comics, just regular ones)

Compliance Officer Day (listing it first to make sure everything is ok on the rest of the list)

Pancake Day (sorry Mark, somebody likes them...it's me)

Johnny Appleseed Day (I have some trees allegedly descended from his tour...those apples are small, mushy and not very good)

Dumpling Day (pancakes AND dumplings...mmmm, good starchy meals)

Shamu the Whale Day (Sea World had a theme park in my area. Shamu was a regular part of Summer vacation and school trips. Big Talent, still a predator)

And...

Situational awareness Day (splash zones made by carnivorous fish leave one very situationally aware)

Side note on Sea World: any of you remember their ads for the year they had the Super friends themed waterski show? I got to see it and Aquaman was not the star.

Drink Beer Day (a healthy family activity that could never go wrong)

Good Neighbor Day (a good neighbor will share their beer)

Strawberry Cream Pie Day (you just had to add milk to a great idea, didn't you?)

Hunting and Fishing Day (what kind of hunting? Nothing much is in season...you know there is one more holiday today, could it tie in?)

And...

Ghost Hunting Day (shotguns optional. Classic Rock and Impala mandatory)

Chewing Gum Day (I recommend Wrigley's spearmint)

Save Your Photos Day (in a shoebox)

Halloween Safety Month (razor blades and cars, beware!)

Dessert Month (don't settle for tiny candy bars)

Poppin' Popcorn Month (it is only "healthy" plain and nobody does that)

Roller Skating Month (are these still around with telephones and straw hats)

Seafood Month (eat local, you don't want to know the working conditions of foreign shrimp processing)

Pizza Month (pizza, can't really eat more of it)

And...

I'm Just Me Because Month (no one else will take the assignment)
