I went in, but was unable to get the hotel I wanted. Fortunately, I booked the Crowne through their website (and had enough accumulated points to pay for my entire stay....)

I had booked the crowne thru their website a month ago. the con rate this year was a solid $500 less then i was paying, so i swapped to the hotel block.

Yeah, I was waiting to see what the difference in price would be, but when I saw the option to pay with points, I jumped on it. :D

Tie One On Day (well, many of you are dealing with family you don't see regularly. Others are visiting hometowns and getting together with long lost pals. Short answer, it is amateur night at the bars and they will be driving so be careful)

Jukebox Day (pick the same song three times in a row)

Craft Jerky Day (i have never heard anybody comment on eating cradt jerky. I suspect this is a cottage holiday)

And...

Bavarian Cream Pie Day (i may tell this joke via installments after the year of holiday listings end. It is a tad long for one post)

It is...

Thanksgiving (you probably knew that and are planning Turkey. The other holidays offer some options)

Turkey-Free Thanksgiving Day (yep, this is now official for those who love animals too much to eat them. Snub everyone and serve Ham)

French Toast Day (we could have that and are eating Turkey? Change of menu next year at Sal's place)

And...

Day of Mourning (it appears people had too much fun fighting with family and enjoying time off. Somebody decided we have to be sad about something)

Be well, if you go shopping, be nice amd patient with the clerks, many had to skip their holiday to sell you that stuff)

The list is long today...

Maize Day (locals are torn. We like corn but "maize" is the team color of the most hated football team)

Native American Heritage Day (in Ohio, even the trives were immigrants so i have no idea what this means)

Black Friday (so go buy stuff)

Buy Nothing Day (or maybe not)

Day of Listening (so put down your digital stuff and have a conversation)

Electronic Greetings Day (or stop talking to people and send them a holiday text)

Flossing Day (teeth or dance, you decide)

You're Welcomegiving Day (so thank those that thanked you?

And...

Package Protection Day (i hope this is about boxes)

Mississippi Day (but not Ol' Miss, that is didfferent. And being Mississippi, it is also...)

Mason Jar Day (the beverage glass of choice among discerning southern gentlemen)

Meth Day (why are we celebrating meth? Oops, it is Metg Awareness Day)

Mousse Day (must be the letter M. Look up the Swedish Chef recipe for chocolate mousse)

Computer Security Day (we should probably move this to before the week when everybody starts shopping online.)

Small Business Saturday (go buy from your local comic and game store today. Buy for you, it will make you happier to buy for everyone else next week)

And...

Stay Home Because You're Well Day (or go out if you want. You're healthy, enjoy it)

Sorry, late today. Here are the monthly observations:

Operation Santa Paws (i am getting a thundercats vibe off this idea. Can't give him claws, that will scare the kids, let's give him paws)

Write a Business Plan Month (nothing in this about starting a business, so just riff yourself out a random PLAN)

Bingo's Birthday Month (the only two Bingos i know are the dog with the name-o and the early 70's basketball player and he was born in February)

Human Rights Month (humans have rights all of them)

Universal Human Rights Month (apparently somebody felt excluded by regular Human Rights Month)

Tomato and Winter Squash Month (two relatively separate foods...just don't squash the tomatoes)

Worldwide Food Service Safety Month (i warned you about squashing those tomatoes)

Spiritual Literacy Month (this does not cover the Chicken Soup for the Soul line no matter what they tell you)

Tie Month (i own two which is one more than i ever will need)

And...

Safe Toys and Gifts Month (talk about ways of ruining the holidays...safe toys are far less fun)

And for today...

Rosa Parks Day (a bus seat is built for sitting on)

Eat a Red Apple Day (for the colorblind, just eat an apple and trust the odds)

Pie Day (which i know was march 14, they are double dipping on pie!)

A Day With(out) Art Day (Art's wife really enjoys this one)

And...

Bifocals at the Monitor Liberation Day (psst, you can adjust font size on your screen)

Cyber Monday (which, unfortunately, has nothing to do with Shadowrun upgrades)

Mutt Day (we are going to the dogs, people)

Fritters Day (fried bread, what could be better?)

And...

Special Education (my cousin's kids are still off for thanksgiving, they would settle for any sort of education today)

Day of Giving (you don't need it, give it to someone who doesn't want it.)

Roof Over Your Head Day (much better than being up to your ears in walls)

And...

World Trick Shot Day (do not knock the planet into the corner pocket)

Cookie Day (any sort will do. But keep an eye out for furry blue critters looking to take your cookies)

Sock Day (they enter in pairs and exit from the dryer alone...sort of like a wardrobe fight club)

And...

Dice Day (you have some, more than you should ever need but there are more out there. Give them a hone. )

Sacher Torte Day (sounds like fancy cake to me)

International Ninja Day (just say thank you out loud, there is one or more near you)

And...

Bathtub Party Day (much like "shower with a friend day" I recommend being very selective about your guest list)

Faux Fur Day (or "vegan fur" as they are now calling it because, why not)

Miners' Day (this is the one job you never, ever wantso thank the guys that dig those minerals out for you)

Gazpacho Day (also vegan)

Microwave Oven Day (you still can't bake a potato properly in one)

Pawnbrokers' Day (less of this stuff is fenced illegal goods than you think. Most of it is work tools from guys who didn't work out as builders)

St. Nicholas Day (he is the patron saint of thieves, hence the pawnbrokers)

Illinois Day (Somebody break out the Malort)

Cotton Candy Day (i do not recommend using actual cotton)

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day (there are 3 living survivors)

Rhubarb Vodka Day (because it has to taste like something different. Maybe Malort should try that flavor angle)

And...

Skywarn Recognition Day (skywarn is a volunteer group of severe weather spotters. Does this day tecognize them or a big storm they noticed?)

Brownie Day (still just cake with a different name)

And...

Pretend You Are A Time Traveler Day (Mark and I actually do live in the future where Episode 22 has already been written.)

Heck, I'm from a time when Legends of Theah is fully written, I'm just stealing the ideas from some other guy.

That is fine, i am swiping those plots from Uwe Boll movies.

On to today:

Pastry Day (i already had one for you...one for each of you, pastry is my spirit animal)

And...

Weary Willie Day (so many off color options for punchlines...)

Dewey Decimal Day (RPGs are under 793.93)

Human Rights Day (filed under 323)

And...

Nobel Prize Day (i have been snubbed yet again on the Peace Prize. My platform is "shut up and stay out of it")

And...

Noodle Ring Day (are these for fingers, ears or other pierced regions?)

Ambrosia Day (i would venture the modern recipe was not in use in ancient times of the gods...Greece had no coconut or whipped cream)

Gingerbread Day (if you are pressed for time, make very tiny pieces and build ine of those "mini houses" the millenials are obsessed with)

Poinsettia Day (not for eating)

And...

Ding-a-ling (for those of you who will not sing, you must be playin' with your own ding-a-ling)
