So, micro rpgs...

I found a new book in my meandering and bought it just for reading.

"The Ultimate Micro-RPG Book" edited by James D'amato.

It is a collection of 40 single session games that each run about a page long. Each is written by a different designer, each is pretty unique. Most of them i would not play if you begged me. But there are a couple of playable gems.

Keep in mind, almost all of these include an actual plot section that is a paragraph long to cover the entire game. Most of those are a variation on, "the players will face 3-5 trials during the game. During each trial, each player will be forced to deal with a challenge". And that is all you get as a GM to work with.

The best stuff in here is more like a social/party game. A lot of them seem to want to crown a "winner" at the end.

A few are outright 2 player relationship exercises.

But there are also some that would be great fun in the right group.

It retails for $17. Maybe you can glean something from it.

Katie, Alexandria, Ken, John and Mark should certainly look into it.

But keep in mind, calling most of these RPGs is like calling Yahtzee a strategy game.
I don't mind growing old... but I hate growing up.
