My Halloween Story for the Kiddos

So, since I'm a writer, I figured a good halloween story should come from me not just read out of some book. To make this more fun, Jenny and I bought a bunch of props for the kids to 'find' out in the backyard which I will make the story from.

First, here's the list of props: Bag of Bones, Axe, Cutlass, Eyeballs, Indian Necklace, Eye Patch, Pirate Hook, Flintlock Pistol, Book of Dark Magic, Mob Hat (a pilgrim woman's hat), Voodoo Doll, and Colonial Hat.

And here's the outline I have for the story...

Have you ever heard the story of Captain Pita Revile and Douglas Googey?
Why, their final battle took place right over THERE! (in our backyard)
Captain Revile was the evilest of pirates
She had a hook for one hand
And an eyepatch to cover her missing eyeball
But her crew didn’t mind
That’s because they were… ALL ZOMBIES!
You see, Captain Revile had dark magic powers
When a new recruit came on board, she would secretly make a voodoo doll of them
Ensuring they were under her complete control
And she was also the Angriest of Pirates
What was she mad about you ask?
Why she was mad about the only person she’d ever lost a duel to, Douglas Googey.
But it wasn’t just that she lost, you see that duel was the reason she was missing an eye!
And, it turns out Doug lived right here in Norfolk
Here Doug lived with the nearby colonists, who had no idea a hero lived among them.
Captain Revile wanted her eye back, and she wanted to take Doug’s eye to show him how it felt
But she couldn’t do it alone and her Zombies weren’t powerful enough
(Cause Doug was a terrific swordsman)
Fortunately she knew an evil spell…
But it wouldn’t last long
So she ordered two of her zombies to row her up that very river to this place (we have a small stream near our backyard)
She brought along a bag of bones, a dozen cutlasses, and her book of dark magic
She spread around the bones of her dead enemies
And used her book of dark magic to turn them into SKELETONS!
Which she armed with cutlasses
Fortunately a local Indian, Flyin’ Red (a friend of Doug’s) saw her and ran to warn him.
Douglas quickly gathered up the colonists to help defeat the skeleton pirates.
He ordered them to get any weapons they could find and either their colonist’s hats (for the men) or their mob hats (for the women)
(because fighting evil pirate skeletons can really mess up your hair)
And once they were ready, they were to meet him at this very spot.
There a great battle ensued.
Doug with his cutlass
The colonists with their pistols
And Flyin’ Red with his axe
But it didn’t go well for them.
You see, Captain Revile’s spell was still in effect.
So every time a colonist was defeated, they rose as a SKELETON!
Fortunately Flyin’ Red knew what to do.
You see he was a shaman, and pulling out his magical Indian necklace, he cast a spell that destroyed the skeletons.
But that didn’t stop Captain Revile!
She raced to kill Doug.
But every time she tried to attack him, she found herself unable to swing a blow.
And soon, Doug dealt her the killing blow.
You see, he’d brought the Captain’s missing eye, which protected him from her attacks.

And you wonder why your kids are on the nervous side... Well done.
I don't mind growing old... but I hate growing up.
