Sometimes it's just not worth going to work

Ok, so today was a busy day, as we have both Passover and Easter we are getting ready for. So we got in these beautiful pink or blue Hydrangea's, and they are good sized and for sale at $20.00 each. My last customer of the day, requested to see several and I was about to put more out, because they were selling so well, that it was not a problem. She looks through them and decides on 2 of them, and to have one of them wrapped for a gift.

So, I wrap it, and then put it into a gift bag that we have, since it was kinda large and I figured it would be easier for her to carry. She had gone off shopping while I had wrapped it, and comes back and starts complaining about the bag, that it didn't look "gifty" enough, and that I had wrapped it wrong, that I was supposed to wrap over the entire plant in celophane. I explained that we do not wrap that way, as celophane is non-recycleable, and we try to use as little as possible, which is why we have the gift bags. That Hydrangea shouldn't be covered over in plastic either. "I know better!" She said, "I'm a gardner!"
Well, she wanted it out of the bag, and started yelling at me, because a leaf had gotten torn. Really, a leaf. So I cut the leaf off, and she starts complaining that it took away from the fullness of the plant. Really, one leaf?
Anyway, she finally left with the plant, but really, what an A-hole she was. Obviously she has never seen how the things are shipped to us, crammed 6 in a box (hey, lots of leaves get torn! Oh No!), and usually in a plastic sleeve, with rotting petals, because they can't handle being in a closed up plastic environment. Personally I wish I could have told her were to stick the plant, leaf and bag, but I need my job to pay the rent.

I got over half a foot of snow on the ground. It has been a fine week to not go to work. Have not had a single complaint about leaves being torn or cut off the whole time. But I now intend to intentionally unbalance some trees and shrubs.

:P I was PG rating my writing on the swearing, so young eyes would not get burnt in the reading. This is a public forum, and we don't know how young some of the "guest" are, but we know there is at least "one" 11 year old, that has access.

Forget him, I have access to the word editor. That statement could be altered to read how much you hate horses on a whim. AND BEFORE ANYBODY TRIES TO SEE IF WE ARE EDITING, WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT. We plan to keep it that way and let you all be grown ups (unless the word "markalicious" starts showing up again).

Besides the 11 year old doesn't remember his password.

I nominate markalicious as the official curse word of HOA, anyone want to second this?

It was just another "fun" day at work today. I'm feeling like we are being taken over by Hitler, as they have now made a rule that only 2 boxes of product can be brought up to be worked on at a time. Talk about slowing down progress, and yet they want everything filled and looking great. Then on top of that my last customer again was another A-hole. Telling me she was in a rush and had to get somewhere, and when I did as she told me too, (though I guess I mis-interperted her), she had time to go to the customer service to complain. Just a F-ing wonderful day.

All I want to do is sit in quite and wolf down a gallon of icecream, to make me happy, but I was good and didn't bring any home, because I don't really need the added weight.

Well, today was another one for the records. Not my last customer this time, but my very first of the day.

Woman comes in and hands me 2 bunches of tulips, asking if they look ok together, but then tells me that they will be $14.00 total (the tulips are $6.99 a bunch), and that it was too much, so what did I think should go with one bunch of the tulips. I pointed out a filler we have called waxflower, and she agreed, since it was 2 dollars cheaper than the second bunch of tulips, then reconsiders and wants to know about the iris, which is $6.00 a bunch on sale. I told her they would be ok, but then the total price would be back up to the $14 dollars, so she decided to go with the waxflower. I put it together and get ready to wrap it while she goes and pays for it. She gets back just as I finish putting it together, and start to wrap it and she decides she doesn't like the way the tulips are draping (tulips always slightly bend, never stand straight up), and changes her mind and wants to get roses instead. She wants to trade and just pay the extra for the roses, and I told her she had to go to the courtsey booth and get a refund, then go through the register again (that's the process), and she exclaimed she was in a rush, grabs the roses, with her receipt and heads for the courtsey booth. Now she had told me that the flowers were for a birthday and wanted a pretty wrap. So figuring she would be back after paying for the roses, I reset the wrap station with stuff to wrap the roses when she comes back. I'm waiting for about 5 minutes, and figure she's probably up complaining, and go up to check, and found out she had got her refund, paid for the roses and left. But wow, talk about not having your head on straight. Most of that happened in about the first 5 minutes. Couldn't make up her mind, and on top of it, I had already cut the tulips and waxflower so I couldn't fix them back for sale, so we ended up using them for a arrangement for the store. Look, if your getting a present for someone, don't be a tightwad and make up your mind, and get there early so you don't have to rush! It makes it so much easier for everyone.

Today was just horribly exausting with all the work needing to be done. My ankle was hurting, I was short of sleep, and felt like I was trying to climb uphill all day at work. I really really needed a hug, and thank goodness for Eric in the prep food department. He came over to go down the elevator to run a quick errand, saw my face and just opened his arms up and gave me the biggest hug.

I will not even begin to say what the day has been like so far today. Babysitting tonight is going to be a breeze, by comparison.

Unless you are watching Mark while Jenny and the kids go out, babysitting is always easier.

The kids were total sweethearts. Went to bed at 8pm, but of course it did take them a while to settle down, but no one had a hissy fit, they all brushed their teeth, and I read them a book. Nice and easy.

See how easy it is when you let them play bartender in the liquor cabinet.

Go through all the trouble to get 'em good n' liqored up, figuring they'll sleep in (and so can we) and what do I get? They're all up at the crack of dawn. Sometimes I forget how quickly I used to recover from a hangover...
