Are all the 7th Sea "deals" really gone?

Postby Black Jack Rackham » Sat Apr 20, 2013 4:04 pm

Ok, honesty time. I check ebay at least once a week looking for cheap 7th Sea books to complete the HoA collection. And sad to say, I haven't made any progress for a couple of years*. I thought people'd have started to get rid of their collections by now (given most don't play and you can get the PDFs which don't take up nearly as much space in your gaming area). But that seems not to be. Whats up with these people not selling me their old gaming books?

*If you're curious, I still need Avalon, Montaigne, Pirates, Sidhe Book of Nightmares, Knights & Musketeers, Swordsman's Guild, and Vendel/Vesten.

I've really been trying to stick to my "Max $5/Each" rule. (I spend enough on this campaign already and I don't want to take books from the fans who have yet to see one complete set (when this is finished, it'll be my third*)). But it sure is good to see someone who feels my pain.

*one is the set we use here at home, one is a pristine set just to look pretty, and then this newest set.

Or how about this dirt cheap Vendel/Vesten book?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vendel-Vesten-7th-Sea-Nations-of-Theah-Book-Eight-Les-Simpson-Kevin-P-Bo-/330910511090?pt=US_Nonfiction_Book&hash=item4d0bcdaff2

I mean really what the hell are these people thinking?

But, but... Neither of those is particularly *good*?? I mean, the Vestenmannavenjar one is OK, but SD? Seriously?

Well, I can see they decide by how horrible the book is written to decide which is the more expensive. Hurry, grab the Vesten book before they come to their sences, lol  :P

Geesh, they really think they have a gold mine in those two books, don't they.

I will consider selling my copies for that price. But you better have a good reason to need them if i'm letting them go for that. (well, for the vesten book anyhow. Sophia's I will sell for that price and some flowery compliments).

Clearly the Vendel book is the most important resource to The Heroes of Altimira.

It's the third most referenced item I use after a book of names and my master list of every business and person on the map. I certainly never consult the combat rules. (which should be obvious by now).

You all are NOT going to believe this. When I first linked to the SD book, it was around $500. Since then they've gone UP $230 some dollars, to over $738.89 for one book! And a crappy one at that! At first I thought it was just a mistake but now I think they're just crazy.

I guess that proves the fact that people pay for their mistakes. Whoever ends up buying that book will know what a mistake they made once they get it. Then of course they will try to sell it off for more than what they paid, to try to make money.

Ooh ooh, more fun stuff from that $730+ SD book. This is what's written about the company that's selling it...

Fun update, both those books have changed price AGAIN, and yes both have been increased. The VV book is now $288, and the SD is now an unbelieveable $959.01 (though in their defense, they did throw in free shipping)...

GRACE, I'll offer you 6 bucks and let you and your hubby have first pick of beds in Jeremy's room. (betting that by Origins, Mark will be thinking those ebay prices are a bargain)

STUNNED I AM!!!

Apparently Half-Price Books in Dallas finally got the message that no one was going to pay over $700 for that crappy book. Sure it's still at the rediculously high price of $32 but they're finally going the right way...
