Countdown to GenCon 2013

Want to know where Heroes of Altamira is playing next or want to beg someone to bring HoA to your own local con? Look no further.

So update, the emails updating events from "Submitted for Review" (meaning I got the event put into the system) to "Accepted for Consideration" (meaning I put the information in correctly and the event will be given an official number, a table, and a time to play) have started rolling in. All, that is, except Episode 1 (the first adventure we're running at GC) and DOMINGO GIGANTE! (the last).

Then about twenty minutes ago, another update, Ep 1 is in, but DG has been, "Returned for Correction" "What the..." I think to myself, I start worrying because I set it up as accepting Generics Only and they have some problem with this. Then I calm down and take a look at what they're requesting. Here's what they say...

The short description of the event reads thusly
This end-of-the-con event has no pre-registered players so you’re likely to get in. All you have to do is get up early on Sunday

Can you guess what the problem is?

Got your guess?

Ok here's what they said.
Event needs an actual description (e.g. basic plot, players' choice, etc) Please correct.

Well damn, that sure is reasonable. I feel a bit dumb now.

So here's the edit.
Missed out playing any of the currently-released adventures? This end-of-the-con event is player's choice of Episodes 1-6.

Just a note, I re-read the emails and it turns out "Accepted for Consideration" just means they read over the information I submitted and there is nothing wrong from their standpoint (but I still could have put in a wrong time from what I'd planned) but when I said it had a number, a table, and a time I was wrong. The term for that is "Active"

So long and the short of it, we passed the first hurdle, another to go...

when in doubt, just show up at Dana's tables and tell him he is in the wrong place.

We have about 3 weeks to go until Event Registration begins (May 19th at noon est if you didn't already know). I'm, of course, immune to the worry since I am not going to be able to play anything (save on Wed when I'm planning on getting into a one-shot Call of Cthulhu game with the KFG)

I can see you failing to explain to Jenny why you are still in Indiana at 8pm that sunday. She won't buy the excuse that you passenger insisted on it.

LOL, well, actually it would be passengers, as we will have a full car load on the Gen Con trip. Mark, me, Charlie, Eric and Megan. While I do have a old Black Sabbath sweat shirt, the cool one with the wizard on it, I really am not a big fan of theirs. Now if it was Kansas, CCR, or The Eagles, I'd be more interested, lol.

May have a small problem. Seems that perhaps we aren't in the JW at all, but rather in the regular old Marriott which is about 2 blocks away. Not disasterous, but schleping the bulky stuff is a pain (course I only have to do it once each direction per day).

GenCon Events List was just made available. If you're interested in games outside of Heroes of Altamira (which would, frankly, stun me ;)), here's the addy.

Also I just checked through the event location portion and it seems the Marriott is marked "Mariott," the JW Marriott is marked "JW" So it seems we'll be in the Marriott (350 W Maryland St, Indianapolis, IN 46225)

Well, I guess we will get our exersize. I just hope the weather will not be crappy, as I don't think you'd be happy getting the books wet. Do they have a skyway walk to get to it from our hotels?

Its not really that far (according to Google Earth, it's a 6 minute walk), If you remember where I was last year, there was a parking garage across the street? The Marriott is just the other side of it from the JW. So it's little more than a block away. And yes, the hamster trails go to each of them (but unless they've made some adjustments, it's not a direct path).

Feels wrong to post here instead of at Origins, but here goes.....

An impressive number of events (over 8000) but relatively little 7th sea, just Mark and Dana. No game base 7 events listed....

And if the rumors are to be believed, there may not be any CV at either of the cons this year.
