Krispy Kreme supports pirates!

Of course the only Krispy Kreme in New England is at Mohegan Sun. I don't really see the logic behind driving 50+ miles for a free donut. Maybe guild members in other areas of the country can cash in. If so post pictures of yourself with your donut.

Edit - It's sadly official the one CT is not participating.

Krispy Kreme has had a strong presence in the Akron area my whole life. And I was a little surprised when they started all the expansion 10 years ago. I was really surprised at the media excitement over them arriving in a town. Because in Akron, they had always been located in the poor and rundown parts of town. So everytime the media would announce a new store in Solon or Mayfield, or another suburb of Cleveland, my first thought was, "oh, that town just became a slum.". And the donuts are not that great.

This is EXACTLY what I thought about Dunkin Donuts when I moved here. Back on the west coast, DD is where homeless folks go to get in out of the rain. No one actually eats there. So when folks were talking about getting donuts from DD, I thought, "Oh my god NOOOOO!!! Are you trying to poison someone?"

I have to agree that Krispe Kreme donuts are not that great. The are tolerable when hot. When allowed to cool they are sickeningly sweet. I also don't like the doughy half cooked consistency that really comes out when they are cold. That being said I'd still take a free one if offered to me.

There were a couple of Krispe Kremes in RI for a few years. They both failed and closed down.

Mark the real appeal to DD for most New Englanders is the coffee.

Coffee which is made by wringing out the homeless on the west coast.

Being a native New Englander, I'm partial to Dunkin Donuts. Krispy Kreme doesn't really impress me much.

We actually had a Peace, Love & Little Donuts open up near us last year. They're good, but the product they offer doesn't warrant the cost, imo.

Grace, I am not a fan or proponent of any of those things. Particularly "little" donuts.

Like I said, the cost isn't worth regular trips. Plus, they only do cake donuts, no yeast donuts.

Some more mostly non-New England love for pirates.

Long John Silvers is giving a free extra piece of fish to anyone who buys a meal and talks like a pirate.

Long John Silvers and pirates, it's like it is meant to be! Of course there is only 1 in all of New England. And I'm not sure a trip to West Roxbury is going to seal the deal for anyone. Maybe our non New England heros can take advantage.

What happens if you talk like a pirate and order the chicken?

If it is a chicken meal it would appear that you get the chicken meal and a piece of fish. I recommend you test the theory and report back.

(Still questing for the best Fish & Chips. Another thing I miss about living in the Boston area...)

Hence the reason you order the chicken. The fish is awful. Grace, you need to look at the local spots in the little harbor villages in Ohio and accept that you will be ordering Perch or walleye dinners for good fish here. Vermillion, port clinton, any if the island areas, grand river all should have some local joints with good fish. But your better fries will be thinner cut fair fries.

The actual secret is that ALL fish is bad. Plus lobsters. Also crabs.
Clams are the only things that live in the water that should be eaten.

What about rice, kelp, cranberries, ice, snow cones, oxygen, scallops and oysters?

Rice and cranberries only spend part of their life cycle in water so they get a pass. Kelp and oysters are right out. I'll actually eat a very small quantity of scallops about once a year for variety sake. Ice, snow cones, and oxygen do not live.
