Welcome to
An Important Note!
Before we get into the nuts and bolts of the campaign, let's discuss the elephant in the room.
Heroes of Altamira (our very first campaign, which began way back in 2011) is now complete. But that doesn't mean we're done with it! Sure, all the episodes have been released. However, to make sure you have every chance to finish up any adventures you might have missed, we will continue to run Heroes of Altamira episodes until GenCon 2026 (our last convention of that year).
That said, we will be tapering off HoA events as we release more episodes of our second campaign, Rogues of Canguine. So depending on how many of the adventures you still have left to play, you may want to prioritize which events are the most important for you. We will do our very best to try and get you those events, but remember there will be at least 5 other people at the table also trying to get their wish lists done.
An Introduction for Your Character
It is the dawn of a new day. For reasons of your own, you have decided to make a trip to Altamira, the capital (and largest, and only) city of the Soldano province in Castille. Altamira is said, even by those not native to Castille, to be the most relaxing, most beautiful place in all of Theah.
It is also a city of contrasts. The city’s streets are not paved, and there are only a handful of buildings above two stories tall. For all that, it is considered to be one of the most cosmopolitan cities in all of Castille, with fully three quarters of its residents being from other nations. It is the hub of trade for all of northern Castille (and southern Montaigne too), but very few tradesmen would ever say they haven't gotten an honest price for their wares. Both the Vendel and the Vodacce do business there, but their trade rivalries almost never come to a boiling point. And they never, ever, lead to death.
As mentioned above, it's been said that Altamira is more restful than anywhere else in Theah, yet the Inquisition tried to murder one of Altamira's favored sons, Alvara Arciniega just a short time ago. Of course, Alvara escaped (though some say with help) to become somewhat of a folk hero. But that's a story for a different day. More importantly, it's not your story. Heck, you might not even be aware of any of this.
Just remember, adventure is never far away. And you, my friend, have never been able to deny its siren call. Welcome to Altamira.
Navigating the Website
Along the left-hand side of the page, you'll find links to the pages that explain how the Guild of San Marcos run games, where we run games, and a forum to ask questions, along with the credits for those who have (and continue to) help us along the way.
Below that are the links specific to The Heroes of Altamira. There you will find links to all the information your character can learn before arriving (including, the people, places, and things you might need to know), instructions for how to make characters and templates to help you get started, maps of the city, Castille, and Theah, and synopses of the retired events (which you can still play, so you may not want to read those right away, unless you like spoilers. But where's the fun in that?).
